Yes! There is a Word for You

Everyone wants to hear a word from the Lord, from the highest government official, to the blue collar worker, to just the person on the street has approached me wanting to hear a word from the Lord. My answer to them can vary, but the bottom line is yes! There is a word specifically for you. Although, God can speak prophetically through me, God’s desire is for everyone to have a personal and intimate relationship with Him.

Often people say God is the father of all mankind but do they have a relationship with their Heavenly Father (God). Every person was fearfully and wonderfully made just to talk to God. God doesn’t desire a one way conversation, simply put he doesn’t just want to have word for you, but God wants to have a word with you. For some this may be hard to believe. If the President invited you to come to the White House to talk with him, you would be ecstatic. Yet, here we are with the privilege to talk to Our Father and most of the time we want a he said version. Don’t misunderstand, God does use prophets to reveal his plans, purpose and will. However, God’s greatest desire is for us to get to know him. I know too many of you that may be beyond your imagination. God desires so much to have a relationship with you that he is seeking to bring you into his presence that you may know him as he knows you.

In the book of Genesis we are told how God created man and from man he created woman. What was his point in doing this? Man was created in the likeness of God so God would have someone to share his interest with. Later God created woman because “it is not good for man that man should be alone”. Once again there was an act based on the need for relationship and communication. After Adam was created God gave

Adam a specific word.

(Gen 2:16, 17) “And the Lord God gave the man orders, saying, you may freely take of the fruit of every tree of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you may not take; for on the day when you take of it, death will certainly come to you.” (BBE)

(Read Genesis 3:1-3) Even as God spoke to Adam he also spoke to Eve.

In the Old Testament men did not have direct access to God. God set up the priesthood and the prophetic ministries in order to communicate with his people. In this disposition of time we were given the fivefold ministry.

(Eph 4:11) “And truly He gave some to be apostles, and some to be prophets, and some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers,”

Although, these ministries are to build up the body of Christ by no means are we to rely totally upon them because God requires you to have a relationship with him. These ministries are to instruct, enlighten, and confirm what you have already received from God.

How can I hear a word for me you ask? God thought so much of us that he took time to write out an instruction manual for our lives. This manual is the Word of God which we refer to as the Holy Bible. It is here that we first begin to hear the voice of God speaking to us as we study God’s Word. Everything we need to know to live successfully is in the Holy Bible. Yes there is a word for you in there. Now that we have been made new creatures in Christ Jesus we have been given a direct connection with God through the Holy Spirit. Jesus teaches us in the book of St. John that the Holy Spirit, will lead us and guide us into all truth.

(Pro 3:6) In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

As you read and study God’s word circumcise your inner ear and be not dull of understanding as God has a word for you in his Word. The Word of the Lord can have such an impact on one’s life.

(Act 8:30-31, 35) “And Philip ran there to him and heard him read the prophet Isaiah, and said, Do you indeed understand what you are reading? And he said, How can I unless some man should guide me? And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him. …Then Philip opened his mouth and began at the same Scripture and preached the gospel of Jesus to him.”

The eunuch found his answer in the Word of God after it was expounded upon. The Word of God convicted the eunuch he repented and confessed that Jesus Christ is the son of God. He was baptized and went on his way rejoicing. Continue to read the Word of God to hear the voice of God speak to you.

Even as Paul told Timothy give attendance to reading to exhortation, to doctrine it would benefit us to do likewise. By doing this not only will you hear a word from the Lord for yourself but you will get the approval of God.

Spend time with God in worship, praise and prayer. We know that God inhabits the praises of his people. If we practice giving praise to God he will live/be present with us. It is not natural to live with someone and not talk to them. Regardless of what your home environment was most children were taught to say something before bed. Prayer is another way of communicating with God. There are many myths about prayer the Word of God states:

(Luke 18:1 KJV) “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;”

Contrary to believes it doesn’t matter where you are or what position you are in, prayer is always in order. Prayer is more than you talking to God, it is also God talking to you. We as born again believers need to learn how to wait for the presence of God and reverence his presence. This is a part of prayer that we do not often talk about. Waiting before the Lord gives him an opportunity to speak to our hearts and redirect our minds.

(Psalm 27:14 KJV) “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”

Many try to take a shortcut and say to themselves I will just go to a prophet and ask him is there a word from the Lord for me. Don’t be afraid to talk to God for yourself after all it is you that want to hear a word from the Lord. Yes there is a word from the Lord for you but will you talk to God to find out what it is. There is no greater feeling than to have God speak to you one on one.

I remember there was a time when the body of Christ would wait in silence for the presence of God. His glory would fill the room and he would use a willing vessel to speak words of encouragement and directions to us. Today everyone seems to be in a hurry, services are designed to be an hour and a half long on a rigid schedule without any interruptions. We want what we want and we want it when and how we want it. God created time for us but it is up to us to take out time for him. In our daily planners be they physical or mental we have everything wrote or in mind what we are going to do. Do we even pencil in time for God? God doesn’t want to be twitted, voice mailed, face booked, or emailed. Call him old school he wants you to get in his face.

God is not a man that he should lie so when he commanded us not to steal he meant it. God would not break his own law, he does not steal but he does use the break in method. We are so busy going about our daily activities that we do not always take time out to spend with God. Since God never slumbers or sleep and we have to he just waits for us to fall asleep and then he breaks in on our sleep pattern with dreams and visions. God desires to communicate with every one of his children so he does whatever it takes on his part.

(Act 2:17) “And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:”

Unbelievable God is so awesome and we are made so unique that he can talk to us through dreams and visions and we can hear him. Dreams and visions are given for instructions, directions, and warnings.

(Job 33:14-17) "God speaks time and time again—but nobody notices—in a dream or night vision, when a deep sleep falls on mankind while they sleep on their beds. That's when he opens the ear of mankind, authenticating his messages to them, turning a person from his actions, keeping him from pride, “ (ISV)

Have you ever been in a church service and it seems as if the minister speaks directly to you? You may have asked God for directions, or maybe it was a scripture that you did not understand. The minister speaks the Word of God and it seems as if you are the only one in the church he is speaking to. This is God speaking to you through the ministry of the word. Yes there is a word for you and it’s coming straight from the minister’s mouth.

Here are some things you should know about hearing a word. You don’t need a spirit guide. That is the job of the Holy Spirit to lead and guide you. In this day and time of new age teaching of spirit guide and angel association, this is misleading people from the truth written in God’s Word. God does not use hokey pokey, mystic, and secret code in order to speak to you. I heard a man talking who said an angel came and took him in a spaceship and showed him many mysterious things. I knew right away that this was not the spirit of God, for he is not in the need of Star Trek or giving you an out of body experience to speak to you. Also, be careful of people who claim to hear from God, and God said for them to kill someone, God is not in the business of death, he is the giver of life. Unfortunately, there are people who seem to be spiritual but are actually suffering from mental illness. They are easy to spot they speak things that do not agree with the word of God.

Yes! There is a word for you. The question is how bad do you really want the Truth? Everyone is not qualified to give you a word, tip save your money. Best advice is to get to know God for yourself so you can talk to him and he to you. Let him become your best friend, advisor, and GPS.

In all things give thanks for this is the will of God concerning you. God will let you know why, when, how, and where if you talk with him. Remember it’s not a one way thing you must be quiet so he can talk to you, wait for an answer.

Don’t be overtaken by the cares of this life and give him his quality time and you won’t be disappointed with the results. Forsake not the assembling of yourself in the sanctuary; you may miss out on your Word for the day. No need to be scared when God breaks in on your sleep just know that he loves you all the more.

Yes God does use prophets even in this day and time to speak a word to the people. But it is so rewarding when you know the word spoken to be true already or when you delinquently seek God to see if it is true. Keep your mind and heart pure cause:

YES! THERE IS A WORD FOR YOU
