BREAKING THE BONDAGE OF PORNOGRAPHY

There is nothing new under the sun. So the enemy will always resort to the same old tricks over and over. It has been stated that “for all that is in the world is the lust of the flesh.”(I John 2:16) Satin knows that he can use our body to turn on us and this is one of his greatest weapons.

Lets highlight the word Lust

Lust (1) a strong desire, intense longing for (2) a strong feeling of sexual desires

Lust can be good or evil. That strong desire or longing can be toward God and the things of God or for your own self gratification or for something that is evil. Specifically, in this article I would like to focus on lust of evil sexual desires. Why do I say evil sexual desires? Because, the desires for sexual fulfillment is met in the institution that God has designed it’s called marriage. If a woman or a man has a sexual desire toward her husband or him toward his wife this is good and no evil found in it.

Someone said it’s all right to look just don’t touch. Once again this is not in the teachings of God’s Word, but the teaching and philosophies of man. “ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, thou shalt not commit adultery: but I say unto you , that whosoever looketh upon a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery in his heart. (Matthew 5:2.) I t is one thing to look upon a man or a woman to see the beauty that God has created within the human race. It’s a different picture altogether when you look with the eyes of lust you have already committed an act with them in your heart. Lust enters a man or woman’s spirit through the eyes, ears and through smell or touch. of pornography is that it is harmless when it is an open door to the spiritI was looking at the statistics of people who watch pornographic material. It was noticed that at many Christians conferences there seemed to have been an increase in the purchase of pornographic movies or videos. You would be surprised at the number of Christian men who are trapped in the world of pornography. Now the enemy has devised a new strategy, not only are men being trapped in this bondage, but also many of our sisters are being attacked with this spirit of bondage as well. I came to realize this many years ago as I started addressing the issue of pornography at men conferences.

Pornography, writing about it sometimes I find it difficult to do. Yet I am compelled to write on the subject to help men and women to be freed from this life of bondage. My first time coming into contact with pornography was the magazine I found in my older brothers bedroom I was 16 or 17. My brother was not living a life style consistent with the word of God. He told me what he was doing was wrong and that me being a minister it was something I should never get involved with. I listened and took his advice to heart.

However Satan is relentless, my next encounter came when I was about 21 years of age. Amazingly, a pastor led me into this adverse behavior. He purchased my first Playboy for me, telling me it was all fine to live a virtuous life, but I should not be ignorant of the truths.

Pornography is extremely addictive. Often when we think of addictions we think of people who use some form of mind alternating drugs. Ungodly lust is a desire that can never be controlled or satisfied, no matter how many times you get your fix. Most people don’t realize that there is very little difference between drug addiction and an addition to pornography. The drug addict does not openly buy drugs, because if he did he would be exposed and arrested for possession. It is the same with pornography addition you have to sneak around to get or do what you have to do without getting exposed or arrested. The world of technology has made it easier, now one doesn’t necessarily have to leave the comfort of their home.

It may start with a magazine but pornography will continue to push you to another level. The world of pornography is a downward spiral of moral decay that pushes you deeper and deeper into greater levels of sin and depravity. Pornography is a package deal, a threefold cord which is not easily broken. Let me explain, pornography brings three spirits: lust ,shame and guilt. Lust –a strong feeling for evil sexual desires, shame-a feeling of regret, guilt knowing you have done something wrong and lastly guilt-the state of one who has committed an offense especially consciously.

Unfortunately many think that getting married will end this whole devastating cycle. Pornography may lay dormant for a while until there is a disturbance in the relationship. During this period pornography will once again rear its ugly head. Please don’t be misled into thinking any one is at fault for one being entrapped by pornography. But every man is tempted when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

Hell and destruction are never full, so the eyes of man are never satisfied.( Psalms 27: 20 ) You have not gone so deep in sin that God can’t save or deliver you. You are not beyond the reach of God so don’t believe a liar the devil, satin. There is a way out of this addiction, which will bring total and complete deliverance from this habit. You will find the freedom to walk again in the fullness of the righteousness of God. Free from all condemnation, shame, guilt, knowing that you have been washed by the refreshing Word of God and completely cleansed by the blood of Jesus.

BREAKING THE BONDAGE OF PORNOGRAPHY

Your steps toward deliverance “and we have given up the secret things of shame” (2 Corinthians 4:2. BBE)

1. BREAK THE SECRECY

Run and tell somebody! Make sure that person is one of integrity, you can start with your spouse or close friend or pastor.[Important Notice: to all those who are being confided in, this is not the time to bring condemnation, judgment or blame. To the spouses please don’t take it personal, because if you do the possibility of a seed of bitterness or resentment may be planted within you.] He who keeps his sins secret will not do well, but one who is open about them, and give them up, will get mercy’’. (Proverbs 28;13 BBE). Secrecy plays a major part in this sin and keeps it functioning in your life. You must not only confess your secret before mankind but you must also confess and renounce this secret before God. You may also pray this prayer from Psalm 19: 12b make me clean from secret evil.

2. ACCEPTANCE OF GRACE

Satin tries to make you believe that you are beyond the reach of God. That is totally untrue, for however much sin you find yourself in, the grace of God will prove to be much greater than the sin. You can be free from the devastating effect of guilt. You must accept the finished work of the cross, and walk in the freedom of that work. Let no one ever tell you that you do not deserve, or are not worthy enough to receive of the grace of God. You are God’s beloved, the very apple of his eyes. He has been waiting and longing for you to come and accept what is rightfully yours. You have the right to be set free from every type of bondage that the enemy has set up for you, and that includes pornography. Most of all it is necessary for you to accept his grace as a reality for yourself. Grace –divine assistance to sanctify you.

3. ACCOUNTABILITY

Now that you have accomplished steps 1&2 you must be willing to submit your future actions to those whom you have confided in. This is not just a onetime deal, but a continuous process until you are completely free. Your life has now become an open book and there is no more evil lust, shame, or guilt.” There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”KJV Romans 8:1. Hold nothing back you are completely accountable for your previous addiction. Get rid of any secret stashes of book, videos, and other materials that were previously used in the addiction. If your computer or laptop was used you must have them completely wiped clean of all pornography connections (it may be necessary to stop using them all together until your deliverance is fully developed). Don’t leave any open doors, or think just in case this doesn’t work I will have something to come back to. That will surely keep open doors that you do not want left open. Those in whom you have confided in must be able to ask you questions and/or exam your private possessions at any given time as an offensive tactic against the enemy. If you are having a hard day, or being harassed by the enemy, then you must simply be open and honest. Make a phone call tell your support group (everything) what is actually happening with you when you are under attack. Remember this is a time of complete accountability.

4. TRIGGERS

Some of the terminology used by a drug user, can be used with pornography addition as well. One of those words is” triggers”. All triggers need to be dealt with appropriately. A trigger is anything that brings back the desire to make you want to use/go back to your old ways. No two people have all of the same triggers. they are different for each individual. You need to know exactly what yours are. Certain magazines such as Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, or Victoria’s Secret (which is not a secret) or others similar can be a trigger. I have found for some, certain types of emotional depression can be a trigger and for others loneness. There also may be another trigger which is not so obvious. There may be a generation curse ,a generational curse is something that may deal or have dealt with your family members things that you are not aware of. By researching your family history and praying in the Spirit you will become aware of this trigger as well. When you recognize or discover your “triggers” you must be honest with yourself concerning them and be honest with your support group. By knowing your triggers you will be able to stop the secret source of the enemy.

5. YOUR POSITION

Jesus has made us the righteousness of God in him. Know who you are, and what God has designed you to be. God desires us to stand in the righteousness he has provided for us through his son Jesus. Jesus has made us the righteousness of God in him. Righteousness is the ability to stand before God free of condemnation and sin and freedom from sin consciousness. In other words we stand before God as if we have never sinned. God is not looking for our sins, in fact he has cast them into a sea of forgetfulness. God desires us to stand in the righteousness he has provided for us through the blood of Jesus. Have you ever wondered why no sickness, disease, or infirmities will be able to stand before Jesus? It is because he understands that he is the righteousness of God. The more you understand righteousness the less ability the addition will have in your life. When you begin to walk in the consciousness of righteousness and not in the consciousness of sin you will begin to walk in the manifested will of God for your life. The consciousness of righteousness brings into subjection all addictions, sin, or habits that the enemy is trying to bring into your life. No wonder Paul said “greater is he that is in me, than he that is in the world”. Think of that, God himself is living on the inside of you. God who is on the inside of us is greater than any of our problems, wiser than any of the tricks of the enemy. Now I understand why Paul said “I can do all things through Christ which strengthen me”.

6. Don’t Press Rewind

Someone had it right, when they said a mind is a terrible thing to waste. Many individuals are allowing their minds to be wasted by allowing the reoccurring of past habits, addictions, conversations, and emotions to resurface in their thoughts. You must stop the replay by renewing your mind with the Word of God. Every time the enemy tries to play the tape stop him, and confess the Word of God. Don’t allow Satin to bring up the old emotions and hurts by trying to rewind your past. We need to cast down those thoughts and bring our thought life into obedience.

Every sin begins with a thought. We must learn to control our minds. (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalted itself the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; And having a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled. (2 Corinthians 10:4-6)

Once you stop the tape from playing you will stop the negative thinking, and the stirring of old desires. You must get control of the player and stop the rewind. I know it works because of a personal experience. I was involved in a very tragic automobile accident. Constantly I could see the accident being played over and over in my mind. Each time I could see this 18 wheeler broadsiding my van. I was afraid to even get behind the steering wheel of any vehicle. Once I took control of the tape player that was playing in my mind, I was able to overcome the fear. You must not let Satin or anyone put an undesirable thought in your mind. People around me at that time may have thought that I had lost my mind or was losing it, for when the enemy tried to push the rewind button I would simply speak out loud and command the tape to stop playing. I would change the scenery in my mind and think within agreement to the Word of God; “whatsoever is good, whatsoever is pure, if there be any virtue, if there be any praise think on these things.” So that is exactly what I did, and it worked every time.

To those who have been bound by that evil sex desire pornography there is deliverance available to you The Word of God is able to make you free and destroy every chain. All guilt and shame will disappear forever and you will be a new creature in Christ Jesus. Yes, even you can do it for you can do all things through Christ for there is nothing to hard for God.
